Gulf Power James F. Crist Generating Plant

Gulf Power James F. Crist Generating Plant – Suspended Scaffolding | Spider®

Shutdown at Gulf Power James F. Crist Plant in Pensacola, Florida

Scope

Provide access to the jet bubbling reactor’s upper tank wall; provide beams for sanding, joint finishing, and joining beams to tank wall

Challenge

Restricted load capacities due to the fiberglass tank

Performance

Engineering experts from Spider® by BrandSafway designed a circular platform that could be separated into quarters to increase the load capacity. The platform was rigged with corner adapters and Spider’s 702396-1 Extended Parapet Clamps. Eight 30-foot (9.1-meter) modular platforms, powered by SC1000 traction hoists and equipped with 5-by-5 beams and H-plates, were rigged between the reactor’s beams.

To ensure safe, efficient equipment operation during the project, superintendents, foremen and key team members completed Spider’s Competent Person Training course at its Pensacola operation center.

Due to the ease and efficiency of Spider’s custom-engineered solution, SealTech was able to safely reduce the project schedule by six days.
