Construction of the Atlanta Falcons Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia

Scope

Provide custom equipment and forming and shoring systems to construct different elements of the structure

Challenge

The structure’s mega hollow parallelogram columns

Performance

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta’s Falcons, in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, is the largest single formwork rental project in Aluma’s Atlanta branch history. In total, Aluma provided 88,714 square feet of vertical formwork. This included approximately 90 complete crane-set column forms for all internal structural columns and the perimeter fin columns, in addition to 19 crane-set mega column/wall forms to form the supports for the retractable steel roof.

Aluma also provided its high-load shoring system for all horizontal formwork, including 41,475 shoring frames with accessories and aluminum beams for stringers that totaled 338,000 square feet of shoring on site at the project’s peak.

In addition, Aluma designed and supplied eight 28-foot-high sets of custom corners for each of the mega hollow parallelogram columns.
